Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Yea, we are good. Now if we go up against something really big and bad it's not much. But the witches can't find us at the very least. *Patted Rory's hand on her shoulder.* It's okay. You need to worry about the demon and the wind busting us when they realize we escaped custody. *She then slapped Rory's ass.* And we're off! *She grabbed the door and opened it for them.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Alright, I fuckin trust you for some goddamn reason. *Rory smirked then it faded as she mentioned the boys* Fuckin aye, we better hurry. *She jumped when Recka smacked her ass then chuckled and followed the witch, shutting the door carefully behind them. She went for the stairs, not quite panicked enough to use the elevator* We can either walk or hit the bus. I think I got some time on my metropass yet.
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
That is a terrible idea on your part. *Recka said with a smart ass grin to the the trust bit.*Bus, be faster. Nah I got it. *She pulled out her card from her billfold and waved it at Rory.* Had literally fuckin charged the bitch before our house arrest happened.

Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
I know right?! *Rory chuckled softly then paused as panic hit her again. It wasn't as urgent, felt more like a reminder somehow. She rubbed her temple and kept going, puzzling* Y..yeah let's just use yours. I don't mine has any. * She pushed the door to the stairs open and walked through the lobby* Feels a little weird traveling like normies ya know
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
That is no joke! *Recka said stretching as she walked out to the lobby.* I miss walking ya know! *As they would come closer to the exit butterflies came into her stomach. She started to think of the witches and had to push the thoughts away.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Rory saw her friend hesitate a little and stopped before they opened the door* You sure you want to go with me? I can explain why I am out and about near this address better than you can. Fuck man if the cops see ya we may be in trouble. *The Asian gave her a small smile* I got this I really do. I can even call back up if I have too. Awkward or not I can get the demon to fuckin back me up if that makes you feel better
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Bitch, please. *Recka said putting her thoughts away.* You aint going no where without me. Besides no one will recognize us.*she held up her wrist.* Off the grid remember! Also you call demon, your ass is sooo grasss. *Recka smacked Rory's shoulder before walking out the exit.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Ah I see. He nods
Jim wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 4:01 am ~Sounds good, better than starting a fight by accident~ *Jim nodded to Veckah as she disappeared* I'm not doubting your magick is beyond compare. *At his question she smiles some* Yeah, just making sure we don't walk in on anything to intense. Some of the local wildlife doesn't like strangers bursting in on them unannounced. They may even be naked *She wiggled her eyebrows at him, teasingly*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Jim smiled when he accepted the answer so readily* I can't imagine it's much different from someone dropping by on your home. I promise that doesn't mean unsafe, just protective *She smiled, a little calmer without Veckah's presence to protect her. The elevator seemed to take even longer now that her teacher was gone*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Why do I fuckin' talk to you? It's like talkin' to a wall *Rory rolled her eyes as her best friend stepped out of the doors but followed suit, shoving her hands into her pockets. She looked at Recka to make sure she was actually okay then nodded toward the bus stop* Quick question, my Mom gonna recognize me? 'Cause we gonna look like some robbers we go breakin' in. *The thought of taking Recka into her apartment made Rory's guts twist* And I'm gonna need you to promise to play this as cool and human as possible. I don't think this is normal bs but it...it might be ugly. *A shadow passed over Rory's face* And I go in first. *She said softly*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
I suppose so. He takes a deep breath, perhaps sharing in Jim's discomfort just a bit. Elevators always take so long. He says more to himself then her
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
You talk to me cause I'm your best friend! I listen...mostly...*Recka said with a small shrug. To Rory's question, she said.* Oh yeah, she'll seee us. Just to magick folk we aren't seen or anyone looking for us for bad intent. *Recka looked to her and let Rory have her way.* Your lead. I'm just the back up.
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Yeah, even worse when what you want to see is just past the door. *The door finally dinged and slid open. She waved for him to follow her as she walked toward the door, sending a mental message to her teacher*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Okay, I've got your word bitch, don't forget it. *The bus stopped and she moved with the crowd to get on it. When they found some seats she rubbed the mark, nerves raising more and more* This is the first time you're comin' to my place huh? *Rory, master of being late to the party* Just..*She didn't know how to convey whatever she was thinking but it was obvious she was nervous about it* I don't know be surprised okay? My Mom...she's fragile and she thinks I'm helping a bible friend recover from a really nasty fall. So just let me do the talking I guess.
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Recka rolled her eyes as they got on the bus. She gave Rory a dull look.* You forget I grew up in a cult compound,my shock factor is pretty high. *Recka pulled her hair up into a high pony tail as they sat there.* You got it, you do the talking.
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
It's not shock I'm worried about *A slightly hurt look came over her face as she looked at her friend. Rory's voice dropped to a quiet whisper* Would you want to take me into that compound? *She asked, trying to put Recka into her shoes without hurting either of them* I'm feeling a little fuckin' naked here and I need your word you are going to be cool with whatever we find. If not cool, in control. *The asian fidgeted a little in her seat* And if you look at me with pity eyes I swear to fuckin' god I'll throw you off the brooklyn bridge. *She knew Recka wouldn't do that but she couldn't help it so she offered up the last bit as a peace offering* You're the first person I'm taking to my place since we moved, I'm nervous
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Toche...*Recka muttered gruffly. She would never want Rory in the compound and she was not going to argue the differences in her comparison.* I'll be calm and in control. I do anything and You-know-who will show up for one and 2 this will be void. *She pointed to the mark on her.* I get it, babe. I got you, nothing else matter. *She wrapped her arm around her's*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Rory took in a deep breath, squeezing Recka's arm with her own* Okay, yeah *The girl reached to scratch at her inner elbow, looking out at the city passing by them. Recka hadn't seen Rory do that since right before the last hospital trip the asian had taken. The city whizzed by outside the window and each mile made Rory fidget a little more* Almost there. *They were in a not so great area where the apartment buildings looked like they could use some love and the people more so*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
It will be fine. Breath.*Recka put her head on Rory's shoulder and looked around the bus at all the other people who went about their business.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Yeah, sure. *Rory nodded to the stop that was coming up* Here, close as we get without getting on the subway. *She explained as she pushed her best friend toward the door. Considering how often Rory was on foot it was amazing she made it all the way to central park everyday, much less Recka's house. Graffiti marked most of the surfaces but Recka saw none of Rory's tags or artwork*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Recka hopped up and moved as Rory moved her to the door. Once off the bus she put her hands in her pocket and said.* Lead the way mon' capitan! *Recka had taken in the tags and saw a few from a runner she knew but nothing stuck out to her.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Rory gave her a small smile but humor just didn't live in her this close to her house. She guided Recka through the streets, shutting further and further into herself with every step. After a little while she stopped in front of an apartment building and pushed a code into the building door, allowing them entrance to the first floor. By this point it didn't even feel like Rory standing beside Recka, just a person who blended into the scenery* C'mon. *She held open the door for her friend. Inside the building it smelled like a bad hotel and the witch could hear the faint sounds of tv's, appliances, voices, and random shouting. There was a small hallway and then they walked out into the middle of a set of stairs that twisted up several stories. Rory moved toward the other side of the hallway. The walls formed a tight box around the metal stairs, with a two doors on each wall. A little girl sat on the bottom landing, kicking her feet out and she waved as Rory started to walk up beside her* Hey ass kicker. *Rory said dully, futzing with the girl's hair as she passed*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
*Recka said nothing as she followed Rory. She took in the scenery but was not phased by it. It was not her first time in a place that looked and smelled similar to this. She did not like the change in Rory. It felt off and not something she wanted to see in her friend. She smiled at the little girl as they passed.*
Re: Somewhere In The Concrete Jungle
Hey! *The little girl rubbed at her hair as Rory walked past, then stuck her tongue out at Recka. Rory chuckled softly* Be nice. *The asian warned before reaching the next landing. She turned and walked to a door with the number 203 on it. Keys appeared and she unlocked the door, giving Recka one last uncomfortable look before opening the door. It wasn't what Rory had made it seem to be. The inside a large living room with a pony wall on the far end that showed part of the cute seeming kitchen. There were cream colored walls, semi nice beige carpet, a few scattered plants, and pictures. It's main flaw was it was a little dark, with the lavender shades drawn against the new york light, other than that it seemed like a cozy apartment, well kept and clean. It wasn't until the first step inside that Recka felt the push of misery that weighted down the atmosphere in the house. It hung in the air like a miasma that was only just pushed behind the smell of bleach and floor cleaner. It might have been then that she noticed none of the pictures had Rory in them, just one asian woman with a white man and two of his kids standing in various spots in the city* Mom? *Rory called, noticing an extra set of shoes beside the door*
