He returns Veckah's head bow. I underst.... wait, Veckah Nobril? His eyes narrow and he takes a long hard look at the vampire before him. There is no way you are THE Veckah. She is a beast of magic and horror. You are as a child, so tiny, so innocent looking.

*It was Jim's turn to let out a laugh, she tried to cover it up as quickly as she could but a snicker or two still made it out around the hand she clamped over her mouth* Beast of magic and horror, that's a new one. *She swallowed hard against the amusement* I assure you this is Veckah Nobril. What is she supposed to look like? Just curious as her student

*She raises an eyebrow then with a smirk nods* Yes, what exactly am I supposed to look like M'lord Nir?

He looks between the two of them, first one eyelid, then the other blinking I don't know, but not this. He waves a hand up and down at Veckah's form. With the reputation you have even in Brazil you should be...... enorme e assustador. You single-handedly killed an entire village of antepassados. In his disbelief he switches between his native tongue and English without realizing it.

Enorme means something like enormous I am guessing *Jim giggled and looked Veck up and down before acting like she was checking who was taller* Nah big strike out. I'm not sure what the other one was but probably not. *She chuckled again before looking up at the buildings*

*She thwaps Jim in the back of the head with a flick of her finger* Careful. *But there is no threat, only teasing, behind her word.* Now that we have cleared up the fact that I am not some huge monster, shall we go check on your betrothed Nir? *And once again without waiting, she starts walking toward the apartment.

Ow! *Jim said in a dramatic way then giggled as she rubbed the back of her head where Veckah flicked* Welcome to New York Nir *Jim chuckled as she nodded toward the direction they were going. She fell in step, slightly behind Veckah* May I ask a few questions Nir? We are about to let you into one of the strongest pillars of magick in the Northern Hemisphere, equal trade?

Okay if I ask something to personal just tell me. *Jim took a moment to organize her thoughts* I have three to start with. Why did you stay in this realm when most dragons left who knows how long ago? How do you know the egg contains your mate? And how do you go about hatching a dragon egg? *She tilted her head, looking at him with curiosity now instead of the distrust she had earlier*

*She remains quiet, allowing Jim to take point on this*

First, there are many more of us still in this realm then anyone realizes. I won't give any true number for we wish to keep our lives, but trust me when I say, we are out there. As for me and my clan, we live in the deep jungles, why leave. He shrugs like it should be obvious. He takes a breath before answering her second question, trying to figure out how to explain the unexplainable. Aside from the fact she is betrothed to my house through a treaty, a dragon of my clan knows when their life-mate has been laid. It is a connection deeper than love, deeper than soul-mates. Not every one experiences the calling, it is rare and when it happens it is protected, usually. A hard frown mars his handsome features. As for hatching, how do you hatch a chicken egg?

I guess that shouldn't be a surprise considering how hard everyone works to protect the masquerade. *Jim tapped her book as she thought* I just thought there was a great exodus when humans started hunting so furiously. *She fell silent again as he moved onto the next question before blinking. She pursed her lips and tapped her book* I read something like that in a book but it was with names...it was something called recognition....hmmm. *At his last comment she rolled her eyes* Place it under a chicken or put it in an incubator but if heat and time was all this egg needed wouldn't it have hatched long ago?

The golds and the reds left. To find one of their ilk left on this plane is rarer than a quadruple rainbow. Silvers and blacks aren't many more, and they are mostly great wyrms who rarely if ever leave their hordes anymore. The rest of us.... we are still around. No mortals, and few mystics can feel us and those that can only get a slight feeling that we are something more. He chuckles. Elfquest, great series of comics. Wendy Pini was a true artist, and a witch of some power, but your comparison isn't far off. There is more to it than when soul meets soul when eyes meet eyes, but it is similar. He smiles. You would think, but a dragon is bigger than a chicken, so you need a bigger heat.

I had always wondered what happened to the dragons in this realm. *She said to herself. She looked at Nir around Jim* I felt you, I knew what you are as well.

Silver and Black...I knew a girl once that sold most of her soul to a black and white dragon but now that I think of it, it might have been silver. *Jim gave Veckah a smile, happy to share in knowledge neither knew. She returned her attention to Nir and grinned* That's it, elfquest. My Mom owned it and my adopted mom later was at least willing to tolerate it. Said Skywise was a hottie. *She gently grabbed the keys that were ever present about her neck* It helps a mortal understand.*She scrunched up her forehead* Bigger heat? Like fire straight and true or hell flame?

He nods to Veckah You did, but you have two factors, one, you are not from this realm, and two, you are beyond even mystic power level. He doesn't feel the need to elaborate on that last comment as he turns back to Jim. I need to see the egg before I can fully answer that, but more than likely, neither. There are other forms of heat besides flame.

He's got a point Teach. After all you are a big scary monster. *Jim teased, grinning. She slowly nodded as he said there was more than one kind of heat* Lightning then? *She fell quiet for a moment* You're taking her home aren't you? *She sounded a little saddened by that thought. Veckah had suggested giving him the egg but she had put off thinking about it until now. They were near enough to the apartment now that Nir could feel the blackhole of magick that was the Nobril Tower*

You do have a point. *She chuckles softly. Hearing the emotion in Jim's voice she eyes Nir*

That remains to be seen, but more than likely, no, not for some time. As I said, the amount of temperature changes the egg has been through have put it in serious risk of death. If it is still viable as your naga friend suggests then adding more would be an unnecessary risk. After she hatches, she will not be ready for travel for a bit of time. You will have a chance to bond with your dragon Jim, and if the bond it true, you will always have a dragon as a friend, even if I decide I don't like you anymore. He smiles at the young woman and there is no 'play' in his expression.

*Jim gave him a measured smile* Safety is the first concern. And I know I sound like a little kid but in my defense...I am compared to you guys. *She chuckled softly* Besides, she might not like me at all. I'm like a fine wine *She grinned, wrinkling her nose* You know, brewed up in some old lady's basement

*She barks a laugh* Jim, you are, and I mean this in the most loving of ways, a dork. *She chuckles and shakes her head, pausing long enough to redo the wards to allow Nir entrance into the Nobril domain. Welcome to Che' Nobril. *She smiles and holds the door open for both Nir and Jim*

I have a feeling there are things you are much older than either of us. He smiles at Jim then nods his thanks to Veckah. As he enters the building he shimmers for a moment, coming to a complete stop. Woah, that was.... strange.

Probably but you choose to take me under your wing Teach. I only learn from the best *Jim grinned at her as she stepped inside* Thank you. *She giggles softly at Nir* Expect strange here. *She giggled again and nodded toward the elevator* Just wait until you meet who lives on the top two floors.

You need to work on your glamour dragon. Our wards almost killed it, and that would have been bad indeed. *She smiles and swats at Jim as she lets the door close. Once it does Nir feels the full seal of the building close around them, shutting them and the entire building away from the rest of the world. She sees the moment of wonder cross Nir's face and smiles at him* I could make it physically disappear as well. *She says as she moves toward the elevator.
